Gena the Crocodile is a fictional, friendly crocodile in the series of animation films Gena the Crocodile, Cheburashka and Shapoklyak by Roman Kachanov

In the 1970s a series of children's television shows, radio shows, records and magazines were produced in Sweden featuring the characters Drutten and crocodile Gena. These two characters were based on a couple of Cheburashka and Gena dolls purchased on a trip to the Soviet Union, so they were visually identical to Cheburashka and Gena.

Cheburashka is a famous character of a Soviet carton “Cheburashka and Gena the Crocodile”. Eduard Uspensky, Russian writer, made up Cheburashka in 1966. Later, thanks to the cartoon based on the book, this character became extremely famous in Russia and around the world. Gena gets very tired of playing chess against himself and decides to find himself some friends. Animals and people respond to his advertisements that he posts throughout the city.
